A proposed Northwestern University (NU) dorm at Hinman Ave. and Sheridan Road is to be discussed at the Tuesday, September 20 meeting of the NU-City Committee. This meeting is held at the Civic Center, 2100 Ridge, in Room 2750 (Aldermanic Library).
SEA opposes the granting of the zoning variances from the city needed for NU to build this building. Current zoning for this land, which is in the Lakeshore Historic District, allows for a 45-foot maximum building height. NU has proposed nearly doubling that to 80+ feet.

NU can build this proposed building by right across the street on its main campus without city permission or zoning variance.
